We are delighted that Diamond Offshore Drilling (UK) Ltd (DODI) has awarded Geo Therm Ltd with the electrical Thermographic (IRT) Survey on the Ocean Valiant semi-submersible rig. The survey is to begin in late June, used to support the rig maintenance team to locate and report on overheating equipment during high-loads, (such as at top-hole), to prevent failure fail and outage.
The rig has an ABS Classification and built on a ODECO Ocean Odyssey semi-submersible design template, constructed at the HHI shipyard in South Korea. This 4th Gen rig has an IMO # 8753330 and rated to drill in water-depths up to 6,000ft, while capable of drilling down to depths of 30,000ft, The rig can accommodate some 140 POB.
The IRT survey is an annual undertaking, to comply with DODI’s Global Excellence Management System, (GEMS) service document. The contract award is a testament to Geo Therm Ltd’s service personnel and their professionalism, supporting each DODI rig in their global operations, and an unblemished 10 year record, providing effective inspections, impartial reporting, and incident free service. The Ocean Valiant is currently working in the UKCS, for Maersk Oil & Gas. (TD)
